Project Description

Surry Hills Restaurant, a 180-seat dining venue in inner Sydney, installed wide suspended linear lighting over its central dining bar and along the open kitchen’s feature ceiling. The HELIAN HL-A007 suspended profile was chosen for its 50 mm lighting source width, which accepts the high-output 24V strip the kitchen and bar demanded.

User Pain Points and Needs

• Need 1 — High-output 50 mm strip. The bar and open-kitchen feature lighting required a wide LED strip and a profile that could host it.
• Need 2 — Suspended mounting in an open ceiling. The restaurant’s open concrete ceiling required a profile that hangs as a deliberate feature element.
• Need 3 — Long continuous runs. Runs of 8 m above the dining bar needed single-direction light without mid-span joints.
• Need 4 — Clean aluminium aesthetic. The kitchen’s stainless steel and brushed aluminium finishes required the profile to read as a natural fit.

HELIAN supplied the HL-A007 profile from its A-Series:

• Body: AL 6063 aluminium with anodised or painted silver surface.
• Lighting source width: 50 mm.
• Cover: PC / PMMA; Cover Model BAPL055.
• Accessories: End Cap, Clip (Aluminium), Suspended Rope (Set), Connector.
• Lengte: 4 m / max.

Implementation Results

• 50 mm strip fit. The high-output strip dropped into the profile without modification.
• Feature presence. The 50 mm source housing reads as a deliberate architectural element above the dining bar.
• Long continuous runs. 8 m dining-bar runs were formed by clean 4 m stock joints.
• Kitchen finish harmony. The silver anodised body matched the open kitchen’s brushed aluminium and stainless finishes.
• Quantified outcome. 240 m of HL-A007 installed across the dining and kitchen zones; the 50 mm housing reached the bar’s required illuminance on the first photometric check, with no under-lit zones.
