Project Description

Gangnam Atelier House, a 6-storey shared creative workspace in Seoul, integrated the HELIAN HL-A003 ceiling-corner profile along every studio partition wall-ceiling junction and the central lounge coffer. The HL-A003 mirrors the HL-A002 in its dual-channel 13 mm / 7 mm geometry, but with a different mounting orientation suited to plasterboard ceiling constructions.

User Pain Points and Needs

  • Need 1 — Different corner orientation. The partition corners meet at a different angle to the retail walls of the Berlin project; the profile had to mount cleanly in the studio’s narrower plasterboard corner.
  • Need 2 — Long, gap-free studio perimeters. Studios of 18 m perimeter needed single continuous runs without visible mid-span joints.
  • Need 3 — Independent wall / ceiling control. Tenants wanted the wall side dimmable independently from the ceiling side.
  • Need 4 — Maintenance-friendly covers. Tenant turnover meant the diffuser had to be removable by facility staff without tools.

Solution

HELIAN supplied the HL-A003 profile from its A-Series:

  • Body: AL 6063 aluminium with anodised or painted silver surface.
  • Lighting source width: max 13 mm, max 7 mm (asymmetric).
  • Cover: PC; Cover Model BAPL001 / BAPL02S.
  • Accessories: End Cap, Clip, Suspended Rope (Set), Connector.
  • Longueur : 4 m / max.
  • Application: Éclairage d'angle au plafond.

Implementation Results

  • Clean partition-corner geometry. The HL-A003 mounts flush against plasterboard partitions without shimming.
  • Continuous 18 m studio perimeters. Two 4 m and one 4 m + 4 m + 4 m + 6 m modular run per studio showed no visible joints.
  • Independent dimming. Wall and ceiling channels wired to separate DALI lines; tenants tune their own ambience.
  • Tool-free maintenance. Push-in PC covers were removed and re-fitted by facility staff during tenant changeovers.
  • Quantified outcome. 720 m of HL-A003 installed across 24 studios; the dual-channel scheme reduced the originally specified fixture count by 30%.
