HL-A005 — Suspended Office Linear Profile Case Study
Project Name
HL-A005 — Canary Wharf Trading Floor, London Open-Plan Suspended Lighting
Project City
London, United Kingdom
Project Description
The Canary Wharf Trading Floor, a 1,400 m² open-plan trading floor in a Grade-A London office tower, replaced its mixed-brand linear lighting with the HELIAN HL-A005 suspended profile. The 35 mm-wide lighting source width accommodates the floor’s preferred high-output LED strip, while the silver or black aluminium housing lets the specifier match the floor’s existing ceiling palette.
User Pain Points and Needs
- Need 1 — Single supplier for the entire floor. A previous multi-brand fixture scheme had produced mismatched finishes and inconsistent diffusers; the tenant demanded one supplier and one finish family.
- Need 2 — 35 mm source width. The floor’s chosen LED strip was 35 mm wide; the profile had to accept it without forced re-stripping.
- Need 3 — Discreet mounting in exposed ceilings. The trading floor’s ceiling is partially exposed; the suspended installation had to look architectural, not industrial.
- Need 4 — Tool-free maintenance. Weekend maintenance windows required rapid re-lamping.
Solution
HELIAN supplied the HL-A005 profile from its A-Series:
- Body: AL 6063 aluminium with anodised or painted silver / black surface.
- Lighting source width: 35 mm.
- Cover: PC / PMMA / Aluminium; Cover Model A005.
- Accessories: End Cap (Aluminium), Clip, Suspended Rope (Set), Connector.
- Length: 4 m / max.
- Application: Offices, conference rooms, supermarkets, home lighting.

Implementation Results
- Single-supplier consistency. One aluminium body, one finish family, one diffuser chemistry across the entire 1,400 m² floor.
- 35 mm strip fit. The floor’s chosen LED strip dropped in without modification.
- Architectural appearance. Silver anodised bodies disappeared against the white ceiling in the open zone and against the dark ceiling in the breakout rooms.
- Weekend re-lamping. Push-in covers were removed and re-fitted within the 4-hour Saturday window.
- Quantified outcome. 1,820 m of HL-A005 installed with one profile SKU; SKUs on the procurement schedule dropped from 9 to 3, and the light-line uniformity inspection at handover passed on the first attemp
